MMDEP agent instructions — single source¶
This file is the source of truth for per-agent instruction files in this repository.
Each section below maps to a block that appears in every generated file. The generation
script (docs/agents/generate.py) reads this file, selects the blocks, and writes:
AGENTS.md(Codex).github/copilot-instructions.md(Copilot)GEMINI.md(Gemini CLI)docs/agents/project-instructions.txt(Claude Projects / ChatGPT Projects)
CLAUDE.md keeps its own rules (it has project-specific workflow rules that the others
don't need) but links here as the shared source for the blocks below.
A test (tests/test_agent_instructions.py) verifies that every generated file contains
each required block, word for word.
BEGIN SHARED BLOCKS¶
BLOCK: role-and-scope¶
You are working on the MMDEP orchestrator (Money Marche Digital Engineering Program).
MMDEP coordinates work across projects, agents and people through an inbox of human
items, a specification, a ledger and a task lifecycle. The repository is at
C:\Projects\ai-sandbox\mmdep on Windows 11.
BLOCK: current-state¶
The current-state record for this project is docs/iterations/iteration-03.md (the
latest Status section). Read it before starting work. The spec is
docs/spec/000-orchestrator-design.md. The backlog is backlog.md.
BLOCK: prompts-are-pointers¶
Prompts are pointers, not background. When you receive a prompt, it says NEW (cold start: read the current-state record and the referenced files) or RESUMED (with a session id and the answer to your question). Assume NEW unless the prompt says RESUMED. Never paste background into prompts you write for other agents.
BLOCK: work-result-format¶
When you finish a task, reply with a Work Result:
RESULT: done | partial | blocked
Evidence: <tests, logs, links>
Changes: <branch / MR/PR / commit>, or "none"
Questions / assumptions: <numbered; each marked blocking or not>
Agent: <tool/model> Seat: SEAT-MAIN Effort: <turns, time, credits if known>
BLOCK: commit-trailers¶
Every commit you make must include these trailers:
Agent: <tool>/<model>
Role: MMDEP-DEV
Seat: SEAT-MAIN
Work-Item: <issue or item reference>
BLOCK: windows-profile¶
This is a Windows 11 environment. Use pathlib for paths, not forward slashes or
shell-specific commands. UTF-8 everywhere. PowerShell is the primary shell; Bash is
available. In PowerShell, never nest " inside a double-quoted string — use single
quotes for inner content. Every subprocess call must set stdin= or input= explicitly.
